“The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So this is marvelous because they are proof that God’s a promise keeper. When we consider that the news about Jesus’ birth would have seemed fanciful, even with angelic delivery, we can only imagine that the shepherds might have been equally skeptical.

They probably had questions about the veracity of the angelic visit, except that they all heard the same thing.

They probably had questions about them being the ‘chosen ones’ to hear the news – few people would have sought them out while at work.

They probably had questions about the ‘Savior’ being born in a manger rather than the palace.

Could God be on a mission to transform our world with a message sent through us? Is God trying valiantly to convince us that the impossible is possible?

In one act of obedience, the shepherds’ questions were answered; their hope was rekindled, and peace was restored in their world. It can be the same for us too – obedience to God’s plan could be the marvelous life-transforming event we’ve waited for all our lives. (As long as we take the time to listen).
