Nougat 10

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had times when I really don’t want to speak with particular people. I’d rather not answer their calls (I’ll groan or think about ignoring them), and I definitely don’t want to entertain them in my space. And then, a thought pops up: what if Jesus felt that way about me? Ouch.

Please consider today’s Holy Nougat

“Call to me and I will answer and reveal to you wondrous secrets that you haven’t known.” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭3‬ ‭CEB‬‬

Call out to God

But ignoring us is not Jesus’ way. As the Only Begotten of God, we have the assurance that He spoke as God speaks, so we know we have His full attention. ‘Come with your burdens and in your fatigue’ He says in Matthew 11. For in Jesus there is rest for our bodies, minds, and spirits. Moreover Jesus assures us of His gentleness and humility. He also says that His yoke is easy to be attached to, and He’s not heavily burdened.

Moreover, Jesus doesn’t impose Himself on us. He invites us to come. In fact, He knocks and awaits our response (see Revelation 3:20), so we know we can cry out. That is simply marvelous! What’s even more consoling, is that this is entirely in keeping with God’s nature.

Our Nougat tells us that God offers answers when we call out and also offers revelations about things we don’t know. That sounds like someone who is extremely desirous of having us around! In fact, it seems that God’s desire to engage with us might be greater than our desire for God. For God also says that we are welcome for a chat even when we are sinful, God has already made provision to cleanse us (see Isaiah 1:18).

The other great news is, God’s Spirit has been released in us when we accept Jesus as God’s only begotten Son and as Lord of our hearts. Part of the Spirit’s role is to assure us that God desires that we find rest from issues that weary or worry us. So much so that Jesus said God’s Spirit comes in Jesus’ name (14:26) and Jesus referred to God’s Spirit as the ‘Comforter’. Again, what blessed assurance!

Are there secrets that we need to decode in our own lives? Do we need The One Who sticks closer to us than a brother (or sister)? Are we needing a moment of spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical refreshing? Are we tired of carrying our burdens alone?

Stop what you are doing now and listen.

Can you hear it? God’s Spirit says ‘Come I’ve got You if you come.’ That’s what I’m hearing, how about you?
