You know siblings, sometimes it feels as though we are rehashing a praise or testimony too many times. Usually when that happens, we’ve somehow managed to forget how long we spent worrying the issue. Perhaps we ought to be more open to praise and testimony as an act of gratitude to God. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

[7] And in the greatness of Your excellency You have overthrown them that rose up against You. You sent forth Your wrath, consuming them like stubble.
Overthrown and Consumed
Luke 7:47 reminds us that the one who has been forgiven much loves much. I believe the same applies to God’s protective and salvific grace. The Children of issue now knew for themselves what God was capable of. I guess for us to grasp the extent of their joy, we would have to have experienced a similar degree of desperation.

All they’d ever known was slavery. And they had stories of an ancestor whose faith in God was so great, he asked that his bones be returned when his descendants left Egypt. Before the Great Exodus, many thought this YHWH was a myth. In recent times, they would have been exposed to Moses’ experience. But even then, Moses wasn’t an ordinary Hebrew. They might’ve even thought God only delivers such people.
They watched as Moses went before Pharaoh ten (10) times, confident that each time would be the turning point, to no avail.
Frogs, flies, gnats, bloody rivers … the plagues were many, the heart of the Pharaoh remained solid.
The Children of Israel must have wondered about God’s calling and election.
But there was an 11th time. And that one was different. The angel of death passed through … the final plague was a killer! It was in that instant that they’d have begun to have faith in God.
When God promised-prophesied through Moses that the Egyptians would be vanquished, the Children of Israel might have had limited faith, and even less expectations. But they had no other options.
Then God overthrew those who rose up against [God] … consuming them like stubble. It wasn’t just a simple victory. God totally annihilated the enemy! Their mourning turned to dancing, they were girded with gladness, and could not be silent (see Psalm 30:12).
While we might not be comfortable with such displays of power today, we must realise that God is doing the same; and has done the same for us. Y’shua’s death and resurrection are proof that God has overthrown the enemy of our souls. And in that last day … whenever it may come – God’s event will be consumed, and we shall see them no more, forever.
