Greetings and salutations
There are so many issues to pray about across the world stage, we might feel overwhelmed. But let’s take them one issue at a time, never forgetting to give thanks for the many blessings God has sent our way.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
One day Cain suggested to his brother, “Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him. Genesis 4:8 NLT
Having read to the end, were you tempted to do a slower reread, so that you could warn Abel? “Don’t go. He is going to kill you! No Abel. Stay! CAIN! DON’T DO IT! HES YOUR BROTHER!”
Or was this an unpalatable Nougat, which sticks in the “craw” (whatever the craw is), quickly forgotten.
How do we respond to the issue of Evil? Does it challenge our faith in God, who only seems to have warned Cain, and reduced the sentence so much?
What about when it’s a shooting incident at school? Or a train wreck, or an abused child, or … Worst of all – part of our life story?
What if we were Cain? Would our expectations and responses to God remain the same? How do we respond to evil in the world?
Jesus Lord
Forgetting about the others, we choose self. Forgive us and reprogramme our hearts, our thoughts, our minds. Like Cain, like the malefactor in the cross, we boldly seek your forgiveness and wisdom for the rest of our journey. Help us to be positive agents of change wherever we go
Lord of the second chance, hear our prayers.
In Christ
