Here’s today’s nougat
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 2 Corinthians 9:10
What an awesome God! Provider of the raw material, of the fertile soil, of the additional resources required for the literal, harvest.
The Corinthians understood that concept. They would have transferred their worship to God for both fertility of soil a nd bounteous harvest. And throughout this segment of Scripture, the gardening image has been especially strong as an illustration of how the Lord responds to our giving.
And the argument is simple and straightforward … God is the Source of all we have. That is our seed/capital. When we plant/invest, the returns are phenomenal! God multiplies what we’ve planted/invested to realize a great yield in our life (and the lives of those in whom we invest).
Ultimately, it’s about faith in the Lord of the harvest/investment portfolio.
