Hallelujah! We made it into 2016. For some of us it’s been a struggle, but thanks be to God who opens doors when we least expect them.
Here’s today’s nougat
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And the government shall be upon HIS shoulders, and His name shall be called: Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9.6
As I prepared for watchnight/old year’s service yesterday, I tuned to the BBC newscast on China’s one-child policy. Beginning today, January 2016, the citizenry of China are legally permitted 2 babies per household. The hope, to restore the current population imbalance. BBC interviewed citizens, medical staff and showed some of the preparations for what they hope will be a legitimate increase in hospital deliveries.
I celebrated with them, and couldn’t help but wonder how folks from mainland China hear Isaiah’s prophetic word. Of course, my thoughts also reached out to those whose wombs/homes have been barren, and have now been blessed with the gift of a child.
For those who dreamed in China, and are now seeing the joy of a tax-free 2016 (on the one-child policy), I pray God’s continued blessings on their extending and extended family! And for those whose hearts continue to dream of a child being born to their homes, I sincerely pray God answers you in the affirmative.
And for all of us, I pray that we never forget that OUR God who moves the mountain of the 1-Child Law in China is the VERY same God who numbers OUR days.
May our purposes be aligned with God’s through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
