Nougat 1

Hello

How did you feel after the week around the stronghold? Or are you now going to embark on the journey? Are you energized or feeling a bit deflated? It is normal to feel a bit down. Sometimes, after a powerful God experience or season we have a moment of angst. If so, today’s Holy Nougat offers a way to address that.

“Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.” Psalms‬ ‭33:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Unfailing

Never disappointing;

Constant and abiding.

Unlimited.

Can we even truly conceive of Love like this? Not a short term demonstration; but the kind that can only come from the One Who created us. It accompanies is through our most challenging situations and gives us the strength to go on when everything and everyone fail us. It is abiding; for not only does it accompany us when life is unbearable but unfailing lives within us.

What seems different in this Nougat is that it is a plea to God for help. And the plea goes out to God for the gift of God’s love. Don’t we already possess God’s love? Yes and no.

The aspect of God’s love that was present at Creation is still present with us in the way only a manufacturer is always present with its product. But the appeal is for the tangible experience of love that protects us from harm and accompanies us through our storms.

This is the kind of love mentioned in Proverbs 17; which says a brother is born for adversity and is expanded on in Proverbs 18 by offering a friendship that transcends the love between siblings. The psalmist wanted, needed the assurance of God’s love to overcome the trials of the day. And so do we.

For the assurance of God’s love, especially when tangibly demonstrated through the impossible, the unexpected and the inexplicable is what keeps us going. Even when we pass through the Valley of Shadows (of Death, Debt, Doubt, Despair, Depression or even Danger). And if we can’t sense it; we can surely ask for it, because it is a live that also becomes more tangible as we grow deeper in fellowship with God.

So when we feel low in spirits, when life seeks to get us down as it sometimes does – let us turn to the One Who offers abiding and sustaining Love, Who first Loved us even before Creation.
