Need a dose of faith? Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”” Matthew 14:16 NLT
I can’t fully recall how I looked at Jesus when I first had my Kid’s Meal encounter. It wasn’t five thousand men with voracious appetites, not counting women and children; but in my reality, it could well have been. Consider some possible ‘mental’ responses the disciples could have made …
Feed how? With what? A kid’s meal Not supersized? Talk about giving a basket to carry water- but the basket is jokey; and there’s no water! It’s grown men we’re talking about Lord; we can’t give them that! (I was planning on that food for myself, steups. It can’t even feed me; now I’m supposed to share!) Not even a miracle can fix this! …
… And that is the moment when we need to allow God to do that which only God can do.
Sometimes when Jesus gifts us with the impossible on a platter, it means there’s a miracle in the mix. But first, we have to cast our perceptions of ‘how to’ aside. Yup. For when we voice the impossibility in the natural, we open the door for The Divine Intervention! That which we have (sometimes external to our physical selves, perhaps our only support) when given over to Jesus Christ, then becomes Super-sized and does the impossible – such as feed Five Thousand grown and hungry men. Or parts a sea. Or purifies a poisoned river.
Until that which we have is Christ. Living within. Doing the impossible beyond us.
Hmmm
Feed them Lord?
Yes. You feed them.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
