Hello
How are you? I hope today’s Holy Nougat propels our week.
“he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.” John 2:8 NLT
Why did the servant obey? Obviously it wasn’t the era when messengers were killed for delivering bad news! Jesus had done nothing to the jars of water. In fact, he hadn’t even touched the jars as He’d sent them to fetch the water! But now He told them to scoop some out and deliver to the Master of Ceremonies. The servant had every reason to make an excuse.
But he obeyed.
Without a murmur or a question!
Can we honestly say we’d have done the same? Just blithely obeying when we cannot see the logic in what God is (not) doing. It’s not always easy to follow Jesus. Obedience may sometimes cost us more than we think we are prepared for. Like casting nets on the other side or serving bumps of bread to a bumper crowd. For even the most basic instruction from Jesus requires activated faith. It’s not always easy to find.
But today, we are invited to scoop water out of a jar and believe it will be transformed. To hand our struggles, fears and dreams over to Jesus and trust that He will transform them into what’s best for us; even if the last time it didn’t seem like that. In two words. Not. Easy.
Yet worth our while in the bigger scheme of things.
Sssh
Stop and listen to God’s Spirit speaking to our spirit. Do we truly trust enough to obey?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
