Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to launch out in the deep
“The Lord said to Moses, “Walk out in front of the people. Take your staff, the one you used when you struck the water of the Nile, and call some of the elders of Israel to join you.” Exodus 17:5 NLT
Sometimes God gives directives which makes zero logical sense to our human minds. So there Moses is, leading the Children of Israel to places unknown and they ‘run out of water’. Naturally the complaint quotient is high.
Does God show them to a visible oasis, Moses is instructed to grab his staff! Perhaps he was going to tap for water. But then there was the matter was compounded as Moses needed to have some elders with him.
It’s scary to follow God into the unknown; but even scarier when we follow faithfully before a possible unsupportive audience. Except God had proven faithful before. For Moses and for us. So the leap of faith we take now with God is actually the building block for the next time.
And, given the right attitude among the ones selected to accompany us, we may find strength and support in numbers. And in any case, if God preselected them, they most likely have gifts and skills to offer support us.
So, let’s step forward as invited by God. Listening keenly, we go forward into our unknown with God as our guide.
