Recently I’ve been bombarded by the trend of statement t-shirts which say “I’m the boss of me.’ While I’m all for assertiveness, I do recognize that there is need for balance, and recognition of Who really is in charge.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:4 NLT
What if this applied to our everyday life and not only to sermons preached? Would our words and actions line up with this proclamation? Have we allowed the Holy Spirit free reign in all our work, regardless? And, when the Holy Spirit speaks for us, are we willing to ensure that our actions provide legitimate follow up which reflects who’s the Boss around our lives?
Believe me when I say, “Christianity aside”, will not cut muster. I tried that line of speech weekend I was immature spiritually. Even then, it didn’t work; for the good Lord helped me realize that if my faith must be set aside for me to speak, think or act; then honestly, I’m more dead spiritually than I could ever imagine. For, like Love (charity), as it is described in Corinthians, Spirit-Free Living profits me NOTHING; if God gets removed from my existence.
So back to the practical. It is the Holy Spirit who facilitates the outworking of our Faith. In our walk, talk and/or meditation, the Holy Spirit must be given priority place to perfect in us that with which we function.
Let’s opt to rise to this challenge, that is allowing the Holy Spirit to direct and vet all aspects of or Living. So help us God!
