The recent unfolding of events and executive orders here in the United States has sparked a rash of responses. The speed with which the EOs have been activated has fed paranoia on both sides of the political divide, and in some instances, led many to wonder whether we are living in the fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Some persons are exceptionally clear on what the “right” response ought to be, others are contemplating best action, yet others are discovering that inaction might be read as action. Certainly, this is one of those times when the psalmist’s outcry is absolutely apt … Guide me into doing right please Lord.
Let us be reminded that the path God chooses for us to take isn’t always sweetness and light. It often involves sacrifice. It may involve serious soul searching. It is however, accompanied by a promise, “… I [God] am with you always.”
So whether the decision we are contemplating relates to American foreign policy or other critical life issues (relationships, employment, health, ethical choices or other), I urge us to spend time seeking God’s directive, strengthened by the assurance that no matter what path the Lord invites is to embark upon, God is with us, and it is well with our souls.
