Hello my dears
I’ve been on a loooooong adventure; so long, that is don’t know whether it’s now night or day. Suffice it to say, I didn’t anticipate being offline. But God is with us, and it is well. Please keep the prayers going.
When I was in high school, the second worst insult we could receive was the words, You are a blot! which was often preceded by the phrase, You are lowwwww! Those were words coming from our head, whose wroth had the power to cost us friendships at least until the shame disappeared. Having never heard those dreadful words directed at me, I’ve never fully felt the impact of their sting. I doubt I’d fully grasped its meaning, and now I do… ouch. For now, I realise that a blot is close to a biblical curse. No one wants that spoken over them. It’s as if God washed God’s hands off the person. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

[16] but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.
Total Erasure
I’ll be honest siblings, there are some aspects of my life I’d rather forget. As would many of us. But would we wish to do so if it meant that some folks would be written out of humanity? For myself, I’d say, not. Even if the person’s inclusion costs me somewhat.

Application
David’s understanding of God’s love for us, is that God would remove the evil from our midst. When we think of some of those ancient warboats, who seem only to be remembered by a few, it suggests David is right. For the Hittites, Perezzites, and the Jebusites don’t exist in that way anymore. A few others have gone into obsolescence, and some remain in memory long enough for someone to invoke a curse (though not done as frequently now). To be in God’s bad books was not a good place to be. Yes, opportunity was there for repentance. A few took it, like the Ninevites. Others just disappeared over time from the annals of history.
I pray that our lives will draw others closer to God, rather than result in us becoming a blot in history.

How then do we pray for those who intentionally come against us, especially for the sake of our faith?
