Invitation to think Seriously About our Spiritual ABCs

Published on

Have you ever found yourself in a space where you were not acknowledged professionally? Or where you were made to feel that you don’t belong? No, I’m not even talking about the mass deportations occurring in the USA presently, I’m inviting us to think seriously about our spiritual ABCs. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

Romans 10:9 AMP

[9] because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Acknowledge, Believe, Confess

Having expressed his heart’s desire – salvation for his people, Israel – Paul noted their misguided faith. (He should know. He was once seeing as they did!) If we still had questions about whether he was converted … Paul insists that salvation comes only through Y’shua Jesus. This salvation is available to all. The condition … believing in Jesus.

He notes that insisting on the Law obliged us to practice ALL the commands, not some. The only acceptable Executive Order was made through Y’shua at Calvary. It is irrevocable because no other can die and be resurrected to save us from our sins.

Can you imagine us forgetting to realize and thank God for that?

Self-Check

How have we failed to affirm all God has done to offer us eternity?

Application

When we acknowledgeour own sinful state, our inability to actually obey all the Law (most of us can’t even get the Big 10 right), we ought to realize the gift we have in Y’shua (see Romans 3:24; 6:23). It is because of his sacrifice – Y’shua’s decision to become human, die, AND return to Heaven – that we have hope for Heaven. Can we claim to believe in Y’shua and fail to acknowledge Him?

While God isn’t walking around with an ego trip, failure to acknowledge Y’shua Jesus as The Christ is wrong. Its consequence is separation. For choosing to disregard Jesus is similar to saying that we’re not on speaking terms. Is that really what we desire to say/do/ be? Given our human response to being ignored or unacknowledged for what we do or our gifts, we ought not subject God to the same. I’m confident that we would not wish to discover what the consequences are.

Point to Ponder

Of course, with acknowledgement comes belief and confession. God’s willing, we’ll continue to discuss and reflect on it. Until then, we need to determine whether we’ve actually made time to Acknowledge God’s gift of salvation to us all.

May all we seek be found in Christ
