Oh the glory of Jesus shines brighter and brighter! The closer we get, the more we see the glory of our soon coming king! Hello siblings, did you realize that what Saul encountered was God’s glory? I think he realized that, and he responded accordingly. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.
Acts 9:5-6 AMP
[5] And Saul said, “Who are You, Lord?” And He answered, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting,
[6] now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
Confronted
Up to the divine meeting en route Damascus, Saul thought he was doing the right thing. He might even have argued that the persecution was about maintaining order in God’s House. But it wasn’t his task to fulfil. The people he found to be out of order were also God’s elect. Those people included the (real) apostles, that is , Y’shua Jesus’ former inner circle – as well as new converts who had received the anointing of God’s Spirit. Those folks knew the Christ. They loved Jesus to the point where they were willing to die for Him. They were souled out.
Saul, in his zeal (some would say bloodthirst), was willing to help them die – for God. Who was right?
Self-Check
Are there persons whose spirituality is not similar to ours, though they say, ‘Lord, Lord’? Do we have the authorization to persecute them or to judge them (without consulting Y’shua)?
Application
Saul’s approach was opposed to Y’shua’s edict for the wheat and tares to grow together, i.e., allow God to be judge of people’s lives (see Matthew 14). We might be passionate about our faith in the wrong way, like Saul. Or it could be those detractors about whom we reflected previously who are misguided. Whatever the case, when our actions are misguided, albeit well intentioned, God might opt to confront us like God did with Saul, publicly and unmistakably.
Y’shua categorically states, ‘a house divided… can not stand’ (see Matthew 12). It applies to politics, it applies to business, and it applies to our faith. We have to be discerning enough to know who God appoints for what and what God condones. That’s what led to Saul being confronted by God’s glory on the Damascus road. That may be why we’re not seeing certain types of results in our own ministry.
Point to Ponder
How have we been agents of division in God’s house? Did we set up ourselves for divine confrontation?
