Ressurection

Blessed Resurrection

Dear Siblings in Christ

Blessed Resurrection to you all.

Had the disciples of Holy Saturday seen the descriptor of yesterday’s Nougat, they might have properly put me in my place. I believe that seeing the word Peekaboo, they’d have said this is no laughing matter, nor child’s play. For them, Y’shua’s death was as real as an execution stemming from kangaroo court proceedings. Worse, with the Passover and the regular Sabbath preparations preventing them from visiting Y’shua’s grave, they would not be in a frame of mind to hear me.

But what about today, this first day of the week, when Mary Magdalene saw him for herself? Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

John 20:13, 16 CEB

[13] The angels asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” She replied, “They have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they’ve put him.”

[16] Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabbouni” (which means Teacher).

Peekaboo. I See You!

They endured two full days of emotions. Passover was normally a great feast, marked by a mix of solemnity and jubilation. Solemnity, because they revisited the horrors of enslavement. Jubilation, as they celebrated their freedom from Egypt by YHWH’s mighty hand. I suspect that was behind Barabbas’ release. How that must have weighed on their minds! Any hope they’d had for Y’shua to be released died when the mob clamoured for Barabbas’ freedom. That must have hurt.

Eating the seder meal would even have been harder. They would have remembered the Last Supper shared just hours before the drama started. Their hearts would have been full. I doubt anyone recalled Y’shua saying He’d be back. I suspect they forgot the parables of the bridegroom’s return. They definitely wouldn’t have remembered His I AM saying to Mary and Martha. And if they did, I suspect they only thought he could raise the dead, not that he was, is, and always will be the resurrection!

Self-Check

When faced with death or broken dreams, what do you find yourself focusing on?

Application

That first day of the week, therefore, when they finally had legitimate opportunity to go see where His body lay, they must have been in a total rush. It was a stranger’s tomb, but the body had not had the chance to be preserved. (I don’t know what that process was like then; but in our time, oy, Y’shua’s would not wish His body to undertake such trauma! Yikes!!!!) Nothing, absolutely nothing, could have prepared them for what ensued.

The stone was rolled away

The tomb was empty!!

I am confident that even if the angels had halos and wings, the shock of Y’shua’s missing body would place those details out of Mary’s mind temporarily. (Although, she might have been noting the angels’ features to tell the others when she got back and had to explain that Jesus’ body was missing!)

To then hear her name … in that voice she knew so well, loved so greatly! What bliss!

Peekaboo! I see you. At that point, that childhood game might have been received with joy! For, in that moment, Mary Magdalene saw and was seen by Y’shua. He was now proven as The Resurrection and The Life. She saw Him, remembered, and believed. That was definitely counted as faith and dedication!

Point to Ponder

Do we see Him? Where do we see Him? What do we believe?

May all we seek be found in Christ
