How was Tuesday’s prayer session? I trust it put in motion long term transformation for you and yours. Of you didn’t/couldn’t pray, perhaps today’s Holy Nougat might be encouraging to you
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you [pasachti], and there shall no plague be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 12:13)
In Hebrew, the word for I will pass over is pasachti וּפָסַחְתִּי, which comes from the word pesach, which means to hop, to skip over, to spare, and to pass over. (Source: messianicbible)
Although I don’t ascribe to the punishment theory (that current disasters in some countries are proof of divine retribution for their waywardness. Or that the overt racism Blacks experience today is a result of our ancestors’ religious practices); it is feasible to expect that one day, the wheat and tares will separate. And, for that separation, it will be as if there’s a Passover taking place. What if the Lord were to pass over right now? Would the Blood (of Jesus) be upon us?
Yes, the Ultimate Passover has already occurred – the Messiah has been slain; the Blood of the Lamb has been shed. And, He is indeed a ransom for us all. Of course, some of us still look (and behave) as though we have not been ransomed. And others of us are not sure about Jesus Christ as The Messiah. But what about those of us who do believe that we have been ransomed? Are we sharing that Good News with others? Or are we keeping it a secret, like the Hebrews had to on that first Passover season?
I pray that we will each be spared when the final Passover comes; but I hasten to add – the Hebrew people were persecuted prior to the Passover; we also are likely to undergo our own season of trials simply because we bear Christ’s name. May we find the strength to persevere through trials and the joy to overcome.
