Blessings everyone,
In our seasons of normalcy or brokenness, how do we respond when offered anything or hearts desire? Sometimes I think it’s a trick question. But here’s one response which may help us process how we might respond.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi, ” the blind man said, “I want to see!” Mark 10:51 NLT
The extent of Bartimeaus’ faith is astounding! Note how he references Christ Jesus; as Rabbi. This is not a term to be taken lightly, as it did not merely suggest that Jesus had fulfilled the requirements of book learning, but it further acknowledged his ability to lead his followers to worship God.
Now that’s profound.
For this version of the healing indicates that Bartimeaus was far better sighted in his blindness than many religious in his day; moreso, in ours.
It doesn’t matter if he had heard Jesus preach before, Bartimeaus’ willingness to recognize Jesus as wise, spiritual teacher even while declaring his need to see, confirms to us that this God-journey which we undertake, is rooted in Faith not Sight.
What are we required to ‘faith’ for our lives just now? Could it be that although we have worshipped Jesus, we’ve failed to see that He points the Way to Genuine, Undiluted Worship of YHWH? And if so, how might our faith muscles need to be further developed for our worship to become more genuine?
What do we need to “see” to be convinced about Jesus?
Hmmmn
Hear Jesus asking, “What do you want me to do for you?”
What do we really honestly desire from God?
