In yesterday’s Nougat, we made the link between the Word on house-building and marriage preparation, and one person responded that it holds true for ministry also. I concurred. But what if God is calling you right now? Do you put God on hold until?

Talk about devotion and obedience! These men didn’t look back, they just followed through on their commitment to Christ. The truth is, whether our response comes after serious deliberation or is a ‘hear, get up and go’, it must be birthed in obedience to God’s Call. Seriously
Saying yes to Jesus is surprisingly easy once we do so; but first we have to undergo the preparation of our hearts and minds. And that may take decades, days or mere minutes, depending on where our hearts are.
Saul, who for years was a very devout Jew, literally saw the light and converted; the Ethiopian eunuch asked Philip to affirm his commitment with baptism in that moment when he grasped the Word; yet Agrippa was almost persuaded. The Sychar woman (by Jacobs well) was convicted in a brief conversation, the SyroPhoneician persisted with her plea to Jesus, even in the face of a harsh rebuff.
But that’s their story. And while they contribute to the narrative of you, me and countless others; right now – this very minute – Jesus is concerned about our individual response to His invitation. Granted, yours may have been a prior response, made a few lifetimes ago, or it may be fairly recent. Christ’s call varies … today it’s “follow me”, another day it’s, “let’s walk together”, and yet another it’s, “I’m sending you out as sheep among wolves”. Whatever the invite, Christ awaits our response.
And He’d really prefer that we harbor no regrets.
How about it? Are you ready to reply, ‘Here am I Lord, please accompany me!’
