‘Can you keep a secret, keep it in your heart? Don’t laugh, don’t talk …’
Hi there
That was part of the ritual which preceded being taken into confidence as a child back in the day. Although it is sometimes true that a problem shared is a problem solved; sometimes the solution is corporate silence; like what is mentioned in today’s Holy Nougat
““Do not shout; do not even talk,” Joshua commanded. “Not a single word from any of you until I tell you to shout. Then shout!”” Joshua 6:10 NLT
Sometimes in order to overcome, we have to fast from speech. Yes. Speech.
As the Israelites went into battle, we note that they were united in purpose. Their goal (see longer narrative) was to overthrow Jericho. That being agreed, the next step was seeking God’s direction for the battle plan.
And the Lord asked for silence as they surrounded the problem. They were not denying its existence – Jericho was way too large to be dismissed – but they were committing the problem to God’s care in silence.
Six days of silence.
Six days of giving the issue collectively yet silently to God.
Six days … one trek each
One day of partial silence
One day surrounding the problem six times
One day reminding themselves silently that God’s got this
One day six silent treks
Twelve silent rotations around the problem
Twelve rounds of active silent faith
Twelve trips of overcoming fear and doubt
Twelve motions before accessing breakthrough
In silence
The power of obedience
The power of agreement
The power of silence …
… Before God
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
