Good morning
Today I wish to begin with an apology to any of us who has faced abuse from another Christian. It may not have been me, however I am sorry for the pain it must have caused. I urge you, please forgive us our poor representation of Jesus our Lord. Please do not be obstructed in your faith in Jesus because of our mulishness.
Although we may claim otherwise, we are also learning the faith and are far from perfect. Like you, we are sinners made saints only by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Not by our own intervention or holiness. With that, please join me in meditating on today’s Holy Nougat
“True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful?” Romans 3:3 NLT
Consider if you will, someone holding a grudge against your family because of your actions. We actually do it quite often. We hold grudges and prejudices against others based on the behavior of a few. Sometimes intentionally, perhaps unconsciously. And there are persons whose experiences with people of (the Christian) faith have led them to be wary about us.
But, it should not be extended to Christ, should it? Unfortunately it sometimes is. And yes, we do know that Christ will be revealed to them and they have to determine for themselves whether or not to receive Him despite our actions. Nevertheless; I believe we have a few considerations:
- Praying for those hurt by our (Christian) unfaithfulness
- Praying for or confronting [in God’s love] those who have hurt/disillusioned others by our actions
- Exploring opportunities to help such persons overcome
- Ensuring that WE are not the ones who have been the stumbling block (source of disillusionment)
We do so, not because God needs us to; but because God’s Love which doesn’t treat us humans as our actions deserve.
Let us strive to paint a truer picture of the God we have experienced through Jesus Christ.
In Christ’s love and grace …
