Ever dreamed of being so wise or prayed for Wisdom. Very good desire. Nevertheless, it may be worthwhile to chew on today’s Holy Nougat
“Wise words will win you a good meal, but treacherous people have an appetite for violence.” Proverbs 13:2 NLT
Of course, there are times when Wisdom seems to have gone off on vacation, and the only thing that is left is desperation, panic or anger. I believe that that’s where God’s Spirit is vital. And the joy is – She’s always ready to meet us at the points of our need – usually just a breath away (you know, those mutterings which honestly aren’t quite prayers; but which God’s Spirit responds to nevertheless). And oftentimes we are left breathless after God’s ‘ruach’ touches us.
Thanks be to God that God’s Spirit continues to move on our behalf!
And then, there are those people! The ones who seem to have been born sucking lemons and practicing evil. And, unfortunately, the treacherous don’t always carry a violent-person warning or look wicked in any way. Some seem very nice; like the scammers whose modus operandi is to befriend and defraud; usually preying on the vulnerable and lonely! Not good.
And while we may even seem such behavior criminal, we don’t normally classify it as violence. And though we describe them as ne’erdowell, we hardly stop to think how much mental effort they put into their plans. That’s often applied knowledge channeled for evil. Probably even wisdom.
Let’s not be deceived – the enemy of our souls IS A Master counterfeiter! So, if Wisdom is a spiritual gift, it is feasible that a similar gift operates in that side; or that we are tempted to use our GOOD gifts – spiritual or other – for the wrong reasons. No one of us is truly averse! Even Solomon succumbed to the perks which accompanied his vast wisdom.
So, where does that leave us? Still desirous of Wisdom, while conscious enough to recognize that True Wisdom coupled with God’s Spirit benefits us and the wider community.
As we seek God’s Wisdom, May our spirits be attuned to God, so we do not succumb to any form of violence or treachery.
