In many economies, there is that informal system which includes persons who provide household help. A good helper is one who allows the house to run seamlessly. and truly shows what a cleaned house is Usually the ones who are full-time ‘live-in’ and some become part of the family. Others are valued for making life smoother.
Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to consider Who a helper is –
““The Helper will come — the Spirit, who reveals the truth about God and who comes from the Father. I will send him to you from the Father, and he will speak about me.” John 15:26 GNB
As Helper, God’s Spirit allows our lives to run smoothly in Christ. When we relinquish control, the Spirit of God begins a purifying process to make our hearts a dwelling place where God can shine through. Using the Good cleaning agents of the Fruit of God’s Spirit – love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, patience and self-control – our divine Helper reorganizes our thought life and actions until those fruits become the flavor emanating from the windows of our hearts.
Having deep-cleaned and vacuumed our hearts and minds so that we reflect the mind of Christ, God’s Spirit creates in us to live in God’s Truth. The Truth of who we already ARE in Christ; members of the family, and heirs to God’s promises. Oh yeah!
So unlike the typical household where the helper becomes part of the homeowner’s /home maker’s family, we bask in that knowledge that God’s Spirit reconciles is TO God; thus adopting us fully into the family of faith. This also means that we have a support (accountability) system to be with us in the household of faith.
Just think how much more smoothly the houses of our hearts would run when God’s Spirit is a full-time Live-In helper with Full control of the house! Able to clean up the little spills by conviction of our hearts. Reminding us of God’s grace, healing and forgiveness when we mess up and have confessed. Assuring us that there is hope in every situation that comes our way.
I have it on God’s authority that God’s Spirit is open to taking on some new *full-time Live-in work.*. Will She find employment in our hearts?
