Have you ever been the recipient of a good, life-enhancing prayer? It’s good to be prayed for. I pray you well. It is also good to be the one praying for others. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.” John 17:15 TLV
Keep them from the evil one – Isn’t interesting that Jesus didn’t ask for the disciples’ rescue; but only for their protection through the process? I think it is telling us how we ought to to look at the situations we ‘find ourselves in’. Rather than seek to escape our situation, it may be such that we only need to hang on tightly to Jesus.
Please note, this is not a recommendation for persons caught in spaces of domestic or other forms of abuse that they must grin and bear it. Note though, that the request is very clear in asking protection from the evil one, which may or may not look like an abuser.
That being said, I urge us to consider
1 – our own lives; are we skirting on the edge of evil’s path? Do we need rescuing (from ourselves?
2 – the lives of others, our loved ones especially; do we need to pray for someone(s) in like manner? At the time we pray, all may be well, let’s cover them anyway. It is too easy for us to stumble into temptation, so every extra prayer of coverage offered on our behalf is welcome.
No condemnation; just prayer
How about us doing that right now – praying for our deliverance from whichever temptation we are facing; and pray God’s coverage over at least two people in our lives.
