Hello
Can you even begin to imagine the feelings coursing through the lives of the thousands of enslaved across the British Caribbean that 1st day of August 1838? Carving out a niche thereafter, despite no compensation for their lives, sweat, blood and tears. No longer under the whip, under massa’s influence for the slightest of infractions, no forced acts … aaah what bliss!
To have the power to build houses for one’s self and one’s family without recrmination or being charged for same
To earn an income (not equal to) for work completed
To finally be valued, recognized as a person; having previously been regarded as property, as chattel
To worship in spirit and in truth, in public, without having to worry about the time
To gain access to education openly (despite much struggles), with equal access to learning opportunities for all
Yet; those freedoms which we all take for granted now, have limited value without full free in Christ.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougatâ„¢
… and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. Hebrews 2.15
How do you understand emancipation?
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
