Greetings

Do you remember being told as a child, “don’t talk to strangers”? I never realised that it had biblical roots.

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. John 10:5

Stranger danger. Such a critical element of our reality these days. The stranger embodied the unknown, which often had negative connotations in the biblical context. But, what of the familiar? And how does one KNOW to follow that voice? Moreso, wouldn’t that voice be strange at some point?

A shepherd of the ilk of the Good Shepherd is not one to leave the lamb to fend for itself during infancy. Thus, as the lamb matures, the familiar voice is associated with comfort and protection. Each nuance of the voice would reflect a different emotion and element of conversation – command or direction. Soon the lamb recognizes the shepherd as The One who looks after the sheep’s interest. The nature lamb will follow the Good Shepherd. The sheep would avoid stranger-danger

What about you? Do you need to pray for the ability to hear and obey? If so, don’t hesitate. The Good Shepherd is awaiting your call.

In Christ
