How would you respond if the Lord spoke to you in that way? And for those amongst us who wish to argue that that’s Old Testament might I remind us that this is the essence of Romans 12.2, “Do not be conformed to this world …”
Not succumbing to the status quo isn’t always easy, but it makes for greater connection with God’s Spirit. And it definitely lends itself to positive relationships between us and God.
So here’s the self test
Am I thinking like the world does – is my talk any different from the status quo, if yes, how so?
Are my thoughts focused God-ward and how might I daily renew my mind so that God-focused becomes my norm?
