Hello
I looked outside and the mist was proof that the day was going to be nasty. It wasn’t. Sometimes we’re better off not leaning on our understanding. Always we should go to the Source.
Here’s today’s nougat
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4.8
This could be called the verse for insomniacs. In fact a friend once stated that there was no worry about restless nights after discovering the implications of this verse. God is not only refuge and strength, but God is assurance of safety even in the most unwholesome situations.
Or, as one songwriter suggests
No matter what storm clouds may rock this ship of mine
The light of my Savior will lead me safely through the night
Though my ship may be battered and my sails be torn
I’ll find rest in the eye of the storm.
The truth is whether it’s a literal category 5 hurricane or typhoon; or a storm of death, debt or desertion we have the blessed assurance that God will guide us to safety and it will be well … even eventually.
So while walking in the Valley of Shadows; rest up. Remember, God’s got this and it is well.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
