Yesterday’s finals at the world games were instructive. Have you been watching them?
I know for certain that I am not gifted in athletics, but I was filled with advice … Until you’ve walked a mile in my shoes, don’t presume on my behalf.
Here’s today’s nougat.
He answered and said, “Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire and they have no hurt, and the form of the fourth is like that of the Son of God. Daniel 3.25
My seminary professors always indicated that a revision of the text was essential when something stands out while reading.
What struck me is the fact that Nebuchadnezzar; presumed heathen; was able to recognize the fourth man as the Son of God. Strong arguments that every knee shall bow eh. In church a few days gone, the pastor noted the phenomenon but did not explain it.
What dawned on me is that the presence of God is so strongly with us, that when ‘wicked, even or enemies” seek to destroy us, they will be confronted by the presence of God. So real; that the enemy recognizes God’s presence and is obliged to acknowledge God.
Can you imagine that?
How do you respond to that marvelous knowledge?
How does it affect your responses to those who seek to harm you?
Can you recognize God’s presence during your season in the Valley of Shadows?
Lord Jesus,
Help us to feel your presence tangibly during our seasons of persecution and may we dwell in your Secret Place. Hear and reassure us we pray in Jesus’s name, Amen
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
