Nougat 2

Some of us might have heard stories of how God continued to protect persons in the now. But what about stories of God being protection for folks who are not ‘in the fold’? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“As they set out, a terror from God spread over the people in all the towns of that area, so no one attacked Jacob’s family.”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭35:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So how do we reconcile this protection Jacob and his family enjoyed from God? Is it that God didn’t condone the rape of Dinah, and overlooked mass murder so no one could touch them? Or should we assume that in the burial and destruction of the idols; Jacob signaled a much needed metanoia (that is, a complete turn around; change of attitude); where his heart soul and spirit caught up with his transformed body.

Should we take that stand – of God accepting Jacob as transformed before the fact – we might find that this is comforting; especially as we think about our own besetting sins. We are not treated as our sins deserve!!!

Hallelujah

And it also means that there is likely to be at least one more person who has wronged us, who also enjoys similar grace from God. Exactly why we ought to extend grace and forgive to others. Including those who are different from and/or offensive to us.

We must remember that delivering our own judgement on others is NOT God’s call for us. If-when we find others who are going/gone astray; our first task is to pray. For the individual and even their situation. Then we listen for God’s direction on how to handle what has come to our attention. For it’s the prayers of the saints that heals the (spiritually and otherwise) sick.

May God guard our tongues from judging others even as God protects us from judgement.
