Hello my dears
So many issues threaten our equilibrium to the point that many of us can scarcely make time for anyone or anything outside of our reality. This is dangerous, as it has the potential to threaten our testimony.
But, before we bash ourselves, let’s have a little talk with Jesus.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
“What is your request?” he asked. Mark 10:36 NLT
Jesus’ discourse with the brothers James and John is another version of the conversation with their mother, the gist of which is the desire to secure a place of prominence in the hereafter. While we may be tempted to chastise the brothers, yet checking our own lives might prove us equally guilty of focusing on the wrong goals.
Nevertheless, the brothers are wholly confident that:
A) Jesus is so accessible that they can present their request to Him regardless of what others think
B) That they can take their personal desires to Him for consideration without fear of being ignored.
Ironically, nowadays many of us have bought into the lie which suggests that Jesus is inaccessible, and worse yet, that He is unconcerned with our lived realities.
NOT TRUE.
Truth is, even if/when Jesus denies our requests, we still have audience with Him. When our priorities leave much to be desired (in the eyes of the world anyway), Jesus IS VERY interested in hearing from us.
This desire of Jesus to hear from us, even when what we ask is ridiculously unreasonable, assures us that Jesus – the Son of God – is keenly interested in even the minutest details of our lives. We only need to strengthen that close relationship.
Now.
After we gain audience for ourselves and recognise that God TRULY cares, we will find ourselves open to “seeing” others and being attuned to their social and spiritual needs. Being attuned to the needs of others actually increases the depth of our relationship with Jesus. For then we are not only open to that special relationship with Jesus Christ, but we are also becoming imitators of Christ. And ultimately, that’s our goal.
So, back to where we started … What do you require from God (Jesus) today?
