Nougat 6

Hey

There have been days when I KNEW heaven was not my destination, because I was believing the lie that God couldn’t love people like me. I literally had nightmares about the powers of hell coming to get me.

But Jesus

If you struggle with discerning your worth in God’s sight; today’s Holy Nougat is just for you.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Isn’t that something – the powers of hell can’t separate us from God’s love! Now we have to take note, eh – we’re not talking about the power of hell; hell has NO power over us per se. It’s a destination. One that’s a bit creepy for many; but it’s a destination many of us are trying to avoid. It’s the what (or perhaps The Who) of hell that’s concerning. For Ephesians 6 also speaks to the population there – principalities, powers (sic), rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places.

While we are not trying to give space to the devil, or get anyone scared; we ought to recognize that there IS an ongoing war for our souls. And, just as a good military has a commander and battalions with different ranks, so do they who fight. (Remember Joshua being visited by the captain of the hosts of heaven? Or God being referred to as the King of Glory-Lord of Hosts-Lord mighty in battle?) For those of us who HAVE encountered the hosts of hell; rather than the hosts of heaven; God’s love reaches past them to secure us. Hmmm hm.

For, the death row inmate whose fate was sealed found NEW life right there just before he died beside Jesus. Oh yes. He was rescued from hell at the very last minute; thanks to his recognition of the Gift of Life hanging on the cross next to him. So even when we give leverage to the powers of hell; it’s not too late for God’s love to rescue us! And when the powers of hell seem to have encamped at our life’s doorstep – it’s time to call the Real Cavalry – whose Love is the main incentive to rescue and restore us.

Or when hell’s powers try to tell us that we’re NOT WORTHY of God’s love, provisions, promises or protection; remember that God’s love song spans 66 books and many millennia to assure us that we are individually loved; regardless of where we’re coming from. And Nothing and No one can take God’s love away from us. Ever
