Greetings my dears

I pray you had a good day yesterday, despite the possible altered version of the celebrations. Were you obliged to wait for others, or did you cause others to wait? I sincerely hope it didn’t spoil your time together. Please receive today’s Holy Nougat™️

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves in tender compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience— bearing with one another and forgiving each other, if anyone has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord pardoned you, so also you must pardon others. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfect harmony.” Colossians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭TLV‬‬

There is a Jamaican saying, ‘Patient calf suck da sweetest milk’ which I think means good things come to those who wait. For many of us, that’s easier said than done. Of course, some of us are very blessed, we don’t mind waiting, on others, on things or on God. And when we do, we find it well worth our time.

Also called Forbearance, Patience is commonly defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming perturbed. I tell you my dears, that’s much easier said than done.

We can learn from two of our friends in the Bible – Job and King Saul. Job, in his season of affliction did cry out; but he neither cursed God nor his friends. For me, that’s Patience. King Saul was given an assignment; to meet Samuel the prophet as they made the sacrifices before facing the Philistines. Samuel was late, at least a day late. Saul began the ritual himself and it cost him his kingdom. An entire kingdom for a day! Was it truly worth his while?

And that my dears, is the question we often actually always have to ask ourselves when our Patience wears thin – are the potential consequences worth defying God’s plans and timing? A few questions for our consideration.

Can you remember undergoing a season of pruning, one which involved waiting on God?

Do you remember what it entailed?

At any time, did you get antsy, annoyed, angry or try to solve the issues by yourself?

How was the issue resolved?

For those of us who still struggle with Patience, I propose we ask God to help us overcome when we undergo.

God bless you

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
