In a recent conversation with a colleague and friend, she noted that her folks have elaborate New Year’s traditions. In addition to making the house spotless, they also kept/gathered round fruits to signify completion year round (got it year round … round fruit). The temptation to join the tradition was great, especially after the year 2020. But tradition aside,

what if we discovered that God was to appear on New Would we be ready? What kind of preparation do we need? Today’s Holy Nougat is an invitation for each of us to think about exactly that.

“ADONAI said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow. Let them wash their clothing. Be ready for the third day. For on the third day ADONAI will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.” Exodus‬ ‭19:10-11‬ ‭TLV‬‬

My dears, while we know not what 2021 may look like; we know what we need to do in readiness for Christ’s return. It could be today, tomorrow, even years or centuries hence. And for some, we will go to God before Christ returns. Is our wardrobe ready? Are we sanctified by the Blood of the Lamb? Can others see Adonai in us?

Let us resolve that this day, we are making ready to meet our Lord, whether He comes now or later. Bless us dear God as we make ready for You. Wash us, sanctify us and fill us with Your Spirit. Help us live in love as though each day is the day we meet you. Show us our sins anew so we might repent please Lord; in Jesus Christ we pray amen
