Nougat 23

Good morning

Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!” Job‬ ‭19:26-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I hear Job so loudly after having had several conversations about human frailty in recent days. I hear him differently as I consider the many who have left this life since the virus took root and death after death after death has littered the landscapes of our common reality. I hear Job, and am challenged to discern whether like him I will confidently proclaim in a time of suffering; despite the decay he WILL see God.

I hear Job and wonder whether the many millions impacted in this time: physically, mentally, emotionally, financially and spiritually, are able to confess this just as boldly. For this is a statement of great faith and it challenges potential naysayers.

Just imagine – Job was covered with open sores; perhaps smelling, and definitely in need of care. Despite all his investments and savings, despite the carefully cultivated business relationships, despite his faithfulness, EVERYTHING Job could have held dear was GONE. Life, as he knew it, was gone. Only the bravest of friends remained; and even they had concerns. They KNEW that what Job was undergoing could only be Divine retribution; for some hidden sin; now about to be revealed in public!

And in light of all that, Job defiantly declared his innocence; but more so his calm assurance that he WOULD see God Face to Face. That is serious Faith!!!!

When our own trials come – and they certainly shall (again and again until death) – in the face of clear and irrefutable opposition; in the face of all we lost; what will our song be?
