Nougat 1

There’s an old saying in Jamaica that whoever laughs last laughs best. I’m sure that the elders who coined it must have been thinking about God! Oh the irony of God’s sense of humor! The way God sets things up – simply hilarious.

Just check out today’s Holy Nougat

“When Jacob found out that grain was for sale in Egypt, he said to his sons, “Why do you keep looking at each other? I’ve heard there’s grain for sale in Egypt. Go there and buy some for us so that we won’t starve to death.”” Genesis‬ ‭42:1-2‬ ‭GW‬‬

This God’s Word version tells us that Jacob basically ordered his sons to stop lollygagging and instead head to Egypt for food. I could just hear Jacob telling them, ’Well boys, we’ve run out of food and so have our neighbors. But we hear that Egypt has enough to sell us some.’ And then when they didn’t get cracking; he’d continue- ‘Boys! The food in Egypt isn’t going to walk here to you; so you better get moving!’

The irony inherent there lies in the fact that NO ONE, not even Joseph the seer, who is governor in Egypt at the time, has ANY CLUE about God’s plan. Not even a hint! Jacob was still mourning his son, the 10 brothers knew nothing of Joseph‘s whereabouts, and it seems that amidst all his responsibilities, Joseph had temporarily forgotten his dream.

But God remembered!

And from the ashes of human trafficking, God offered to the family a brand new day. Hope – via the persecuted one. What the enemy of our souls, through Joseph’s brothers, planned for evil was flipped on its head and became the most precious plans!

Who would have thunk that being trafficked by his brothers would become the source of the entire family’s redemption and restoration? But it was, and it certainly did.

And God had the last laugh.

Ours might not be as extreme as human trafficking, and right this moment all may be well; but last week, yesterday, last year, next whenever’s setback is possibly God’s building block for the breakthrough or the vision we’ve long forgotten.

And if folks are laughing at our current situation; please please pray and praise; because our God CAN and WILL have the last laugh
