Nougat 3

Hi there

Sometimes reading Scripture offers that Eureka moment; we see something that makes many others fall in place. Today’s Holy Nougat was one such for me –

“As the Midianite merchants were passing by, the brothers pulled Joseph out of the cistern. They sold him to the Ishmaelites for eight ounces of silver. The Ishmaelites took him to Egypt.”‬ ‭‭

“As soon as Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them. But he acted as if he didn’t know them and spoke harshly to them. “Where did you come from?” he asked them. “From Canaan, to buy food,” they answered. Even though Joseph recognized his brothers, they didn’t recognize him.” Genesis‬ ‭ 37:28‬; 42:7-8‬ ‭GW

He never lost sight of God’s vision … He came in fulfillment of God’s vision

His brothers sold him … His disciple sold Him out

He was as one dead … He died that cruel criminal’s death

His coat was ripped to fake his death … His coat was ripped to pieces at His death

Even in ‘death’, he was his dad’s favorite … in life, in death, in life beyond death – He is God’s favourite and only begotten

Son

He reappeared in Egypt – as their Savior and their brother … He rose from death as our Savior, Lord and our brother

He was their go between to Pharaoh … He is our go between to God Almighty

Joseph, born to save his brothers and help birth a nation … Jesus, born to save us all and restore all nations unto God forever

One might miss the parallels between Joseph and Jesus, but let us never miss the point and purpose of Jesus’ life – so that ultimately we, you and me can live in His Love, with God forever and ever.
