Nougat 8

Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to receive God’s gift of reconciliation.

“He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

From our nougat we see that both Jews and Gentiles were recipients of God’s grace, despite the difference in their proximity to God. Put simply, we are all sinners, and it created a gap between us and God. The gap still exists and we have to choose to bridge the gap if we wish to be reconciled with God. Having made the choice, we eventually realize that we can’t bridge the gap ourselves. But God chose to bridge the gap by becoming one of us.

Having become human, God through Jesus Christ took the punishment and the guilt on our behalf. He even went into the space of eternal damnation, becoming the bridge for those who’ desire release.

How often have we taken Jesus for granted, overlooking the sacrifice made on our behalf. This was especially the case after Jesus’ ascension (it stands to reason that if God became human then in this earthly dimension He’d have to stop being fully human at some point).

His return to Heaven could have meant that the gap returned. But no, God’s plans are sustainable and eternal. So, God’s Spirit assures us that Jesus truly bridged the gap, and leads us to the Bridge entryway through Faith and prayer.

Isn’t God grand?

The joy is, they’re a package deal. When we choose to be reconciled by God’s grace we also get God’s Spirit, Who guides us, even when we go astray. What a Trinity! That’s the true message of Reconciliation that leads to peace, inner peace. Will we receive it as Good News?
