We’ve acknowledged God’s sovereignty and Lordship, and we’ve recognized God’s creativity – what next? Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

““O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!” ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭32‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What is next is yielding to God’s authority, recognizing that if we mean what we say about God, then even if we were/still are disappointed by the last ‘No’ we got from God, it can’t diminish God’s God-ness. Not at all.

So like Jeremiah, like Ezekiel (37), like Mary, we affirm that which we understand about God. God’s God of every created thing; nothing is impossible for God. And that includes delaying our answer (see John 11); revoking a gift or blessings (including spiritual gifts); or telling us No. Yet, conversely, it includes the miraculous graces, the healing, the continuation and restoration of life that we’re tempted to forget when God doesn’t manifest as we expected.

I guess ultimately we have to decide what makes God our personal God? Is it only for fair weather with no clouds ahead? Or for all time? Jeremiah had to answer that question for himself when asked to purchase the field as a prophetic word that Israel would not only enter into a season of exile, but would also return to the land 70+ years later.

What impossible thing is it that we need to affirm God’s God-ness? What broken pieces need to be mended through a recognition of the truism? Can we say in all honesty, ‘O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!‘?
