Trying to decide whether to seek God to help with a task? Consider today’s Holy Nougat™️

“The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged. For the Lord hears the cries of the needy; he does not despise his imprisoned people.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭69‬:‭32‬-‭33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

For what do we seek God’s help? Have we actually sought God, or are we planning to?

There are times when we seen to think that God sees and knows the desires of our hearts, so we figure that IF it’s in God’s plan, God will. And that has merit, for there are times when that’s how God operates – providing before we ask. Just like parents and guardians tend to do for the children. But even the most doting parent expects communication with their children, and look forward to hearing from them.

We also have the tendency to use one experience to determine the extent of our next engagement with God. It may be the self-protection mode (to protect ourselves from further disappointment), but it does not foster a healthy relationship between us and God. For, when we choose to avoid asking God for help on those grounds, we run the risk of becoming the ‘wicked’ servant who buried the talent because the master was self-absorbed and harsh (see Matthew 25:14-30). And I suspect that isn’t our goal.

As we reflect, it’s worth considering what would happen if God chose to treat us in a similar manner: opting out of that close relationship with us each time we were disappointing to God. Erm … the wicked servant was only chastised at the end – not before. Each servant was gifted in relation to their productivity. They were not outcasts. Moreover each received a gift.

So, when we know our assignment we are free to seek God’s face for the How, and ask for help with the task. Remember the ASK principle; Ask – it will be given;Seek – so we can find, Knock – for the door to be opened. That’s a reasonable ASK for most of us to follow automatically. My dears, we can’t afford to not seek God’s help; let’s do so with the humble confidence that God will what God wills.

May all we seek be found in Christ
