What do you want to be when you grow up?

Now that was a popular question throughout most of our childhood – it was asked by parents, teachers, counselors, and friends; with varying degrees of interest and support. Of course some of us knew right away what we’d become; others of us were expected to follow the family path; and a blessed few of us are still trying to figure out what the answer is. Wherever we fit in that cycle, have we thought about what God wants us to be and do now and in the future? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Our Nougat indicates that God’s got a plan for our lives. It’s a plan that slowly unfolds through our lifetime – one day, one activity at a time. To some extent, we are privy to the plans. That’s why we take the paths we take. And why we are filled with certain dreams and desires. Because God placed them there.

Now we can play Jonah or Saul and opt for our own thing. Just get a piece of the vision and opted for a self-designed version. Costing time, costing lives, and costing our progress. But to what end? It usually profits us nothing.

Whether we took those approaches or not, we know there’s another way – to begin (or middle, or end even) by taking God’s counsel. For if anyone should know what we oughta do when we grow up who we ought to be, it’s our Manufacturer. Yes, God was there before our conception pulling pieces and people together. The circumstances weren’t always perfect, but the fact that each of us is here, means God saw us, declared us good, breathed life into us and blessed us.

That’s good reason for us to seek God’s counsel for the current season as well as for the next steps. For God ‘shows us the path to life – on earth as in Heaven. So while God is great for securing our spaces in the hereafter; God’s got an even better track record for backing winners and crafting success for individuals and groups in the now.

Look at Esther, David and Saul-Paul and countless others. Now look in the mirror for God’s next success story. Yes, God can and will show us the path of our Lives. We only have to ask.
