At our worst, who do we represent? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I remember with some shame the day I allowed myself to get so infuriated with the service provider. What a dressing down I gave them! It was all in English, but rather uncharitable. And I meant every single word at the time. Then the clincher came – the representative needed my name to ensure I got proper redress. I paused, then huffily indicated that I was Rev Ashwood. Still filled with outrage and a touch of self-righteousness mixed with pride, I added a comment about being willing to be quoted for their service was untenable.

And it was

But so was my response.

Siblings in Christ, whether we fully relate to the aforementioned situation or not, we do face temptations each day. Some put our lived faith to the test, whether folks recognize us or not. There are Peters in our midst, who deny Jesus every step of the way. Others of us proclaim His Lord-ship in words, yet our actions tell a different story. Are we white sepulchers, saying the right things while filled with spiritually dead bones? It’s not too late to switch.

Our Nougat invites us to prioritize Jesus, whom we represent in all spheres. By keeping Jesus our main focus, our lives ought to reflect His values, especially as we are His emissaries. Let’s resolve that Jesus will be pleased with our lifestyle wherever we are; and that those looking on will be encouraged by our actions.

It’s all about God’s glory, not ours.
