At a life crossroad? Consider today’s Holy Nougat™️

“But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” … “Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬, ‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Wow!

In the face of gross disability, God actively intervened in Moses’ life. He might have stuttered, been dyslexic, or just been plain scared of returning to Egypt. Whatever the case, God’s response is telling. Of course, we recognize that it was God Who called Moses, yet this wasn’t his (Moses‘s) natural gifting. And, in assuring Moses of support, God confirmed that Moses’s call was divinely appointed.

It stands to reason that we can find solace in Moses’s experience. For, that conversation assures us that God is able to work with and through us regardless of our giftings. And, while we agreed that we invest based on our knowledge and skills, it is worth noting that when God calls us, God will equip us.

Additionally, we have the assurance of God’s grace to sustain us through whatever disability we face. The irony here is that God didn’t refute Moses’s claim to disability, nor did God offer to heal him. Just think, if Moses was genuinely disabled, then we’re faced with the idea that he was a chosen leader in spite of his disability. Moses may have been the first disabled person to lead a nation. Could it be then, that God needs us to know that having a disability is not a liability?

That’s food for thought.

For, there is no disability we face that is outside of God’s grace. And God’s call enables us to rise above the things that would beset us. Success is in our lives as it was for Moses when we allow God to direct us as Moses did with God. As God revealed to Moses what to say, God will direct our path (Proverbs 3:5-6). Our task is to seek God’s face.

So, what is God asking us to do and be? Is it outside the realm of our current ability? Then, in seeking God’s direction, we follow the path God’s set before us, knowing that God tells us what to say and do. May we be attuned to God for the next steps.

May all we seek be found in Christ
