Nougat 19

We finished yesterday’s reflections on the litmus test, which is the basis of today’s Holy Nougat

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So having heard a prophetic word, we ask whether it’s true, right or honors God. If it is true, it is borne out by facts. What is credible and irrefutable about what was spoken? Is it a truth we can hear or receive in the moment, and why/not? For if we have nigglings, it’s time to pray. No two ways about it.

We must also see whether what is said is right. Although the NLT uses ‘right’, the better translation is ‘undefiled’. For sure, there are times when what is said is correct but the source is not of God. And sometimes we know. Not only because we sought questionable sources, but God’s Spirit is whispering or clamoring that it is not God’s truth.

Remember, our aim is to weed out counterfeits. And I have noted, when we are close to a breakthrough or a new beginning, it is not uncommon for every kind of counterfeit to appear, disguised as reality. Or as a distraction. Hence our need to remain focused in God. By listening to the still, small voice, we’ll find our ability to sift through the words and discern where God is.

And that’s also aligned to what honors God. Yes, we seek to remain within the Laws of our church or country, but our focus is on honoring God. It is said that bitter and sweet don’t come from the same source. Thus we check the source, just as we would when promised millions – if we provide access to all our hard-earned resources.

Siblings, whether it is prophetic words or any other spiritual gift in operation, our task is to be alert to God’s Spirit. And to act according to God’s Spirit and God’s direction. Where we have been guilty of doing our own thing, let’s confess that and invite God’s transformation by the restoration of our souls through Christ our Lord.
