Nougat 22

It is so easy to get sidetracked on our faith-journey, but today’s Holy Nougat offers a way out.

“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Of course, there is a presupposition that we will remember to apply the Word. I’d like to suggest this asks for us to first ask the Word of God, Jesus, to take control of our lives. For when Jesus is in control, we will be open for His directions and we have access to God’s Spirit Who teaches us what to say.

Of course, we most definitely hide the biblical Word in our hearts also, as remembering the Word can keep us in check. Some of us might recall Bible drills and even getting prizes for reciting Scripture and knowing that books of the Bible during our formative years. And those are often our default scriptures. It is worth studying more scriptures in our adult years both as a deterrent against sin and to bolster our spirit.

There are different ways to hide the Word in our hearts. We can repeat until it becomes fixed in our system, I suspect that was the methodology used with our younger selves. We might also grasp concepts and pray the scripture concepts as taught by some intercessory schools today. This often results in the recall of scripture when needed, for it’s stored in memory or in a physical device under a particular theme. And there’s also the mirror routine. By strategically posting Scripture in visible locations like love notes, we are reminded of the grace available to our situations.

Whichever format we appropriate, it is good that the Word is readily accessible to us, lest the enemy catches us unawares. I pray God’s blessings as we grow more secure in our faith.
