Nougat 23

Today’s Holy Nougat is a reminder – We Belong. This is what it says

“For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭29‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’m struck by the old sing-along ‘The Family of God’ as I read this nougat. For, it assures us that we’re chosen – not as servants, who have no rights, no agency or representation, rather we are called – Children.

We belong.

And we belong to God.

That’s great news to me! I don’t have to force my way into God’s presence because God’s got time for me always. I don’t wonder whether I can speak with God, God knows my heart AND as God’s child, I qualify to be heard.

And the same applies to you.

Of course, there’s the little detail of being like Jesus – that can be a little scary: what if we mess up? The thing is, Jesus is the exemplary older brother Who not only set the tone as firstborn, but also seeks to help us be our best selves through Him! It means that we retain some of our own individual character in addition to carrying God’s DNA embodied through Jesus.

This feels like we need to embark on a journey of discernment and discovery. To figure out how we come into our true selves. Im looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. What say you?
