Remember that phrase, ‘Heaven bound, but up to earthly good’? Today’s Holy Nougat
offers a unique perspective.
“Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.” Hebrews 11:10 NLT
Abraham’s life and story teaches us that it is quite fine and in order to live with a Heavenly mindset. In fact that’s God’s desire for us. Not that we become so fixated that we neglect our earthly community and responsibility, but that we recognize and remember that when we pray, ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done’ we are declaring that the kingdom of God is already here.
So what do we seek from Heaven to help us live more intentionally as God’s emissaries on earth? I can’t answer this for us even generally because it is individual. For this is us seeking God’s kingdom and righteousness first. And though it might seem hard initially, we get the hang of it soon enough as more and more we defer to God and not ourselves. As the relationship deepens we have a deeper sense of what is missing.
I pray that as we continue to walk in God’s Spirit and grow in God’s grace, that our sights will remain fixed on our Heavenly city. Moreso, I pray we experience the manifestation in the here and now.
May all we seek be found in Christ
