I know, I know! Today’s Holy Nougat is like a recurring decimal. Nevertheless, it still has more to chew on.
“Instead, we are God’s accomplishment, created in Christ Jesus to do good things. God planned for these good things to be the way that we live our lives.” Ephesians 2:10 CEB
God Planned it
I have a friend who loves to be prepared, so she plans everything. If possible, she would probably plan to the last minute. It has it’s merits. However things don’t always go as planned. That can be a disappointment.
There is a Master Planner-Architect, Who is in all our lives. And it’s easy to miss the presence of the Architect, since this Planner often seems to be working in the background. And this Architect’s work is our lives, all its nuances and connections. This takes careful planning.
When we consider all the people we have met over the years, the places we have been, and the experiences we’ve had – both good and bad – we realize that it’s more intense than a game of Jenga. And that often involves strategizing, forward planning, and looking back all at the same time.
For those unfamiliar with the game, it involves manipulating sticks to create a tower as high as possible by pulling sticks from lower levels to extend the height. As it is a group game, one also has to think about the other players’ moves and mentally determine how much strain a particular layer can take. At some point, it is likely to topple, and the game will start again. Until that happens, the one who is able to manipulate the sticks and place them strategically so that nothing falls earns the right to feel accomplished!
How much more does God feel as we progress in life; building on past experiences; bearing the weight of lost loves, opportunities, hopes and dreams; and remain steadfast in our faith! I suspect that God’s ‘Jenga’ design for us involves God’s Spirit filling the empty spaces, and Christ’s love and grace holds us together. We sometimes topple, like the Jenga towers. Depending on how far the logs topple from, our foundation may not be badly damaged, and Our Architect will continue to rebuild.
In other instances it is very clear that the foundation is unstable (physically, emotionally, mentally, psychologically, spiritually, and perhaps even financially) and at that point, God’s gotta make the decision – will reinforcements be enough, or is it time to call us Home.

The Fact remains. We are God’s creation, living proof of God’s accomplishments, cemented in Christ Jesus, filled with God’s Spirit for good things. Jenga or not, we’re proof of the Planner’s creativity and love. And that’s what truly matters.
