Nougat 29

Hi there

There’s this marvelous hymn-spiritual that speaks to God’s loving provision in the face of our unbelief. It asks the subject of the song how many times does God need to prove God’s love, in order for the person to take God at God’s Word. It’s a good question for each of us, but even as we wonder about God’s love, what would the proof of our love for God look like? Hmmn. Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Do We Believe?

They say the proof of the pudding is in the eating and many of us take that approach to things spiritual. We require full proof of God’s Spirit at work in our lives before we are willing to believe God means what God says. I know, I know – I don’t understand. It’s not like that. We only want to confirm God’s will before we step out in faith. Because the last time we asked God’s intervention … so we are just safeguarding.

Right!

Of course. By the way, did you happen to do like I’ve done a time or few … that is – try to direct God on HOW God ought to fulfill our prayer request? Erm – not wise. Funny tho, that we leave other things to the ‘experts’, and make no attempt to tell them how to do their jobs eh. Is it that we trust the laborers more than the Owner/Manufacturer? In a sense, when we do such, we’re actually denying God’s existence. Because in accepting God’s divinity, we accept God’s sovereignty, which includes the ability to keep promises.

So hear God’s invitation to see God as YHWH, Adonai, Elohim, Jireh as only God can be. One songwriter says, ’There’s no God like Jehovah!’ and it’s true. God is the only (onliest) One Who is God in the way God is, makes covenants with humanity for multiple generations, puts in a contingency plan for when we mess up and keeps God’s Word regardless.

And what does God get out of the deal? Oftentimes, half-hearted praise, bargains that we don’t always keep and sometimes – in a good season, we genuinely live for God and testify of God’s awesomeness. Our Nougat says that even with that we have total access to God’s strength! Of course, it requires that we believe and apply that strength God offers to our every circumstance; especially those where we are weak. Can you imagine what that would look like?

Might we choose today to believe and live as though God is, and that God’s grace is already available for us? Everywhere? In all circumstances? Let’s show the world that we believe.
