We have the distinct privilege of cruising into 2025. It is not for us to take for granted, several persons we know have cruised into eternity. Not all are cruising with YHWH at this time. That we are still here, especially if we’re believers in Christ, means that there’s work for us to do. And that’s what Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to consider…
2 Corinthians 5:20 NIV
[20] We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
Heavenly Representatives
An ambassador or emissary is a representative of a nation or national leader in another country. Interestingly, the Greek root is presbeuó, which is also the root for presbyter, or elder.
When framed as ‘elder’, we may find ourselves thinking of someone who is mature and versed in the values and precepts of their sovereign or country. As Christ’s ambassadors, we seek to represent His interests in the spaces where we interact. This is not only at church, where we may be accorded the title of elder, but also includes school, work, our wider community and the marketplace.

Application
I would argue that one core role we each have as ambassador, is that of promoting our sovereign so that others would wish to gain citizenship with Christ. That’s partly what the writer is suggesting in saying it is as if God is beseeching us to live boldly for Christ.
Our presence in the world today offers another opportunity to share Christ with others. By yielding to God’s Spirit, we are equipped with the necessary tools for representing Christ wherever we go. This includes wise use of the gifts and fruit of God’s Spirit. I pray we maximise the occasions.
Challenge
Have we accepted the invitation to be ambassadors for Christ?
If God were to be represented solely by our word and actions, what is the likelihood that others would seek residence in Heaven?
May 2025 prove to be a year filled with our impactful representation of Christ’s values.
